The Amaya Interview: The Indian Princess who Will Get You Wet with Her Magical Voice
"I’ve come to realize that every single person has a sexy voice. So, you’ll often catch me in coffee shops, malls trying to listen to the styles in which people speak."
Sure, she reads poetry about the boundless beauty of a Hindu wedding ceremony. But she writes fiction, too, about the boundless pleasure a newly-wed wife (also named Amaya 👀) feels when she receives cunnilingus and five fingers from her husband’s sister at a family dinner.
Marriage? “I have a lot of fantasies to fulfill and unless someone magically appears and ticks all my boxes, then unfortunately I have no room for marriage.”
She publishes erotic stories and sexy ASMR readings at her Substack, Amaya Gets Wet, and she records ASMR roleplays for her YouTube channel.

Her writing and audio covers variety of topics, including stories about visiting a glory hole, essays about her evolving belief systems, and sensual readings of 19th century Indian poets. This reading of “It Is Not Love It Is Madness” by Mirza Ghalib was what got me interested in interviewing Amaya.
Now, on with the interview:
Your voice is incredibly pleasing to listen to. Did you always know you had a sexy voice?
That’s very kind, Ari! I decided to become a full-time creative back in 2022 and my entry-way into that world was via audiobooks. I loved the auditioning process because I had the opportunity to practice and play-around with my voice. However, I hated the rejection, alas giving it up and focusing on creating audio role-plays.
I had said to a friend of mine, ‘If one person subscribes to my Youtube channel, I know that my voice can make someone happy in more ways than one.’ I think the first subscriber (I still remember their handle) gave me the confidence and reassurance to believe that I had a listenable voice.
Now that a lot of my work centres around sound and voices. I’ve come to realise that every single person has a sexy voice. It’s their cadence, intonation and tone that reel you in. So, you’ll often catch me in coffee shops, malls (maybe not a library - although people whispering is seriously sexy) trying to listen to the styles in which people speak. It’s quite hypnotic. Those qualities that I enjoy in people, I try to use that as an influence for my characters or even story characters!
How did you get started writing and voicing erotica? What came first, your desire to write or to voice?
I grew up pretty sheltered, away from topics of sensuality, sex and the entire cosmos where I now love to play. Funnily enough, Twilight was my awakening in my teens; then came the Wattpad stories, Tumblr, etc. I knew I liked the idea of writing my own erotica one day. So as I started to explore my sexuality, whilst having many sexual awakenings I would write down small anecdotes. I loved exploring sex with my long-term partners! So when I became single after a long, long relationship, sex became scary. Whilst trying to navigate how to awaken my arousal again, I found ASMR role-play! I enjoyed listening to so many creators like ASMR Daddy and Dangerous ASMR. I then thought to myself, ‘What if I could change the notion of desire and sensuality through audio?’
I liked the idea that it would be less exploitative and would possibly allow people to access parts of their imagination where their desire can develop in a healthy way. From scripting these role-plays I knew I had to start writing: my experiences and fantasies!
According to your bio, Amaya Gets Wet is the “confessions of an Indian girl who’s parents are dying for her to get married but she just wants to fuck and write about fucking.” Do you have any desire to ever get married, or is it more fun staying single?
I’m at the age where the idea of marriage seems a bit performative, you know? I tell you what, if someone did magically appear and they ticked all my boxes, then fuck yeah (but I hate that it’s legally binding and society tells me that is what I should do). However, I have a lot of fantasies to fulfill and if they’re not with it, then unfortunately I have no room for marriage. It’s so interesting that you have asked this question. I’m laughing as I write this response, because just yesterday my aunty called to tell me she had a ‘rishta’ (marriage proposal) request for me. It would make a lot of people happy, but right now I’m here for my happiness only.
Find someone that you can mix your elements with, till then have fun and be safe!
Coming from a South Asian background it is part of ones identity- marriage. However it’s important to ask what ‘marriage’ really means for oneself. Does it mean you’ve found someone that you are aligned with? Or is it a relief that the loneliness you feel has been cemented over? Ah, Ari, I’ve just looked at the definition again, and Google shows me two: (i) a legally and formally recognised union (ii) a combination or mixture of elements. I like the last definition better. Find someone that you can mix your elements with, till then have fun and be safe!
What is the key to sexy erotica in your opinion?
What gets me hot under the collar when reading erotica is the storyline. I need to know why the main character got bent over. What were the reasons? What’s the backstory? Were they naughty? Is it revenge? Love? Creating a circumstance/happening for why the eroticism is occurring is important for me.
You’re creating a world for your readers to either observe as outsiders, watching; or you’re creating a space where they can become a character within the narrative. Providing that baseline further allows the readers to explore their own fantasies and build on their own imagination without the shame often associated with sexual acts and fetishes.
Which authors have influenced you?
Arundhati Roy’s writing has had an immense impact on me. She writes from the perspectives of the unseen and explores concepts which are hard-hitting, adorned with excellent narration. My heart always flutters when I pick up ‘The God of Small Things’ because I go through a journey each time. Roy writes about the lives of people whom are marginalised in Indian society. An activist who fights relentlessly for human rights. The Ministry of Utmost Unhappiness is a book one must read. A true masterpiece. My favourite author and person!
My first sexy love will be J.R. Ward. The Black Dagger Brotherhood series had me reading day and night. I’ve re-read a lot of them too! It taught me how to develop characters as the books aren’t too long, one must establish strong characters through dialogue and physical attributes, and quickly!
Sara Cate is also a writer I absolutely adore. The Salacious Players’ Club series is something to really sink your teeth into as each story is different but really marry well with each other. Exploring different types of relationships and adding that romantic essence to the storyline.
How many scripts do you write per month?
I try and write four to six scripts per month. Currently all are short stories ranging 1.5-2 thousand words. Whether that be ASMR role-play scripts or erotica. It’s funny, Ari, because I often overthink and begin to ponder if I’m sharing too much of the goings-on in my mind. But then I think, if I want people to feel comfortable with their arousal and desires, then I must bring forth my desires and neatly place them on a dining table with a beautiful bouquet of flowers right in the middle.
What kind of character do you most enjoying voicing?
You know Ari, I wanted to say ‘all of them’, because I do. However, I love exploring the roles which require me to be more dominant. They’re my fun older women that just want to have fun without the scrutiny of society weighing them down. They control their narrative and because they’re just fucking cool women, they respect and adhere to the listener’s boundary.
I want the character to always show that they appreciate the listener’s boundary and that’s why they’re conceptualized from the perspective of something coming to fruition. (Think of a scenario where you meet someone at the bar, and it’s the end of the night; it could go either way!)
So when it does get to the point where it can get a little spicy, it ends. Allowing the listener to begin imagining the scenario further, setting their own boundaries and exploring how deeply the listener wants to interact with the fantasy.
How does it feel to voice DOM characters?
I think for a while, (without going into a lot of detail) I had lost my voice. I was scared to show me, my thoughts, and what I liked for the fear of being judged. So when I voice my more DOM characters, I feel excited. I can explore the flirty and extroverted side of me which I keep to myself.
ASMR: Mean Girl Wants You Alone in the Classroom
I can take control of romantic scenarios that I possibly wouldn’t have control over in reality. Moreover, it has taught me that I can be sexy, charismatic, alluring. I can find the power within me to explore my own voice. Having open and honest conversations where I show up for myself.
How much of your writing is colored by your own experiences?
Ari, you have a way with asking questions. I almost spilt the beans! A lot of my stories are influenced by experiences or situations I have been in. Other times, my imagination runs wild. I imagine thrilling scenarios where there’s blackmail involved, crime, horror. You name it!
Weirdly, an interview popped up on my screen earlier and it was Salman Rushdie talking about what makes a writer, a writer. He had said (and I’m paraphrasing poorly here): be interesting and as vivid as you can. One should write because it comes from a deep place within you. That resonates with me because I want to keep experiencing new things, learn and educate myself; so hopefully my stories continue to have a small essence of my experiences and plenty of my imagination.
