The bell rang. Kyoko quickly packed up and left class, carrying Josh’s pen.
Someone yelled Josh’s name. He turned around to see Hiroshi, his dorm mate, rushing down the aisle steps.
“Dude, what were you doing sitting by Kyoko?”
“These were the only seats left, and she invited me.”
Hiroshi appeared petrified. Josh was confused and weirded out. He continued talking to fill the silence.
“She seemed pretty cool.”
Josh turned to walk towards the door. Hiroshi grabbed his shoulder.
“What?” Josh asked now with a tinge of fear. “Is there anything wrong?”
“You don’t know about Kyoko?”
