When I told my friend I was taking a trip to Uijeongbu, he said, “MASH tourism?”

I did not know MASH was filmed in Uijeongbu, a city of 430,000 in Gyeongi province about an hour to an hour-and-a-half north of Seoul by public transit. Surrounded by mountains on both sides, Uijeongbu is a chokepoint for invading armies on the way to Seoul. It was the site of the Battle of Uijeongbu in January 1951 when the Chinese military pushed the Americans and South Koreans out of North Korea and came close to Seoul.

It has hosted U.S. bases before, but now those bases are closed, and the closest base is Camp Casey in Dongducheong city, approximately 20 kilometers north of Uijeongbu. Budae-jjigae (army base stew), which includes hot dogs, spam, ramen, cheese, and other assortments, remains a famous dish on the restaurant streets.

But the reason I went to Uijeongbu was for the largest sex toys shop in Korea.

Bananamall is one of largest sex toys sellers in South Korea. (There is a Mongolian retailer called Bananamall, too. It does not sell anything that can be used with bananas.) I had purchased a number of items in my collection from their online site, and I can vouch for the quality of their products—as well as the discreetness of their packages, if you are concerned about such things.

Bananamall has a good selection of BDSM products, and it is an accepting place. Its website features a series of stories and pages teaching newbies about SM.

But sometimes, you want to see, touch, and feel the products. There are SM stores in Seoul like Red Container. But, they are much smaller than Bananamall’s flagship store, and their SM selection is limited.

Bananamall’s big store in Uijeongbu takes up the entire second floor of the IB Tower. It’s above a Coffee Gurunaru and just outside of Exit 2 of Uijeongbu Station on Line 1. It looks like it occupies about 400 square meters (4,300 sq ft) on Google Maps.

Bananamall’s store has a large selection of vibrators, clitoral stimulators, eggs, power handle orgasm balls, penis extenders, cock sleaves, strap-on dildos, dolls, artificial pussies, “stamina trainers,” school girl dresses, and fetish clothing.

Walk into the caged room in the back corner, and you’ll find my favorite products.
